Hike up Cascade and Porter mountains near Lake Placid

Broke in Dawn's new Keens and Dean's new Hokas on a short but steep 5.5ish mile hike to see a spectacular full 360 view of the region on a magnificently clear day with temps in the 70s.  This is a popular "must do" hike in the Lake Placid area that most folks can finish, but it is not a leisurely stroll.  But...just when we were about to pat ourselves on the back for completing a rigorous climb and descent (which in many ways is harder!), a couple that were clearly in their 70s cheerily passed us on their way up.  Ok, they also appeared to be very fit hiking veterans, but still, it was a humbling "Norway moment" (where everyone from 3 to 90 engages in rigorous outdoor activities).  Still, we expect the next couple of days to include some DOMS.
